World Environment Day 2015: What makes it and what we make out of it

While the past decades has seen growth in economic sectors of the world, sustainability has been used more in regards to the phrase “require attention” alias “awareness” .What we failed to see then and watch now among the horrid figures of economics, is the fact that growth can neither survive nor be profitable unless we care enough to bring sustainable as its adjective-in all sectors.

Realizing the significance of making world’s growth-and the resources its derived from- more renewable, rather than a one way destructive consumption the World Environment Day 2015 brings forth the theme   “Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care.”

With the rapidly rising population and only one planet to tend its needs, it is high time that our needs came to be at peace with the rapidly decreasing resources. The only way to do that is consuming smart, consuming with care. A consequence that can pave our insight to view a long term better solution to our needs-rather than declare the narrow, short term insights as inevitable.

Little can do more. Keeping this in view Bangladesh different organization has performing programs on the World Environment Day (WED) to raise awareness and encourage active participation in sustainability works. This year has been no exception and has rather seen initiatives that may pave the way to sustainability in certain cases.
